How to Plan a Profitable Online Course & Business
In this video I’m going to help you to make an action plan for your online course business.
When I started my business - I had to create a Business Plan. By creating it - I had a better vision over my path and the steps I needed to take in order to achieve my business goals. We’ll simulate this, but in a much simpler version or way. By the end of this video - we’ll identify the main action steps you should take in the following weeks in order to create a profitable online course and business.
This will be your road map if you want. As a reminder - don’t watch these videos without making notes of the things you should take care and act upon. In order for this program to be effective you have to follow the steps presented - and not only watch the videos, but also take action, and actually implement what you are learning. Now let’s get on with the planning.
One of the lessons I learned in my life is that - everything seems so easy or… totally complicated until it is written down. And this is also valid in the case of Online Course Creation Business. I know you may think at this point: I need to do this. What if I need to do that? Or, if I do that - will there be time to do the other thing?
And, eventually - there comes the paralysis by analysis. There are so many possible things to be done that at some point - we just freeze and we’re not doing anything. This is the worst scenario you could find yourself in. This is why, in this video I’m going to show you how to avoid this - by taking action.
I know I emphasize this, I mean that - I’m mentioning taking action a lot. Well, if you think about it - your main reason for taking this course was not to hear my beautiful voice :D - but to learn how to create a profitable online course and business. And in order for you to achieve this - just watching the video lessons is not and never be enough for creating anything. So, let’s take action now.
Let’s say you want to cook an omelette. In order to cook one, you need different ingredients like : eggs, oil or butter, salt, spices. Then you need some hardware like a stove, a pan and so on. Then there is a certain step-by-step process, which I’m not going into here.. - a process that is transforming a raw egg into a delicious omelette.
This video will help you identify and plan that step-by-step process but for creating a profitable online course and business. There are many ways of planning this. You can use Trello, the tool that we used earlier. You can also use excel or word… it is up to you what tools you use - but, remember, this is not a step that you would want to skip.
The online course creation planning is crucial. Depending on the time you can schedule for online creation - you can and should create an outline of the actions you need to take - in order to create your online course. So, let’s start with week one.
Create an excel or word document, or download this template - which I made available for you - and let’s identify the steps you should take in the process of creating and marketing your online course.
WEEK 1
In Week 1 - you may want to watch this entire course or, if you want - follow along the course and implement the actions presented in each lesson, it’s even better. It is totally up to you. So your first step could be - to watch this program during the first week.
But as I said - I really recommend you, for the most effective way of implementing this program - watch a lesson and do your assignments.In this way, by watching a lesson, implementing the necessary steps you are building your online course and business.If you opt for this option - by the end of this program you will have created a profitable online course and business. Therefore, I really recommend you to do it this way. If not, find a way and strategy that fits you better. And remember, you have unlimited access to this course - so take your time and implement what you learn at your own pace.
The next step you want to take is to do your research on the topic you chose for your course. You can start with the answers you got from your surveys you made about your course idea. After your content research, you should plan creating your Lead Generator Course. You should decide in what form you would want to deliver your course. You can present your course as text, video slides, audio or all of them combined and so on.
Then, you will need to prepare the materials you need for the creation of your Lead Generator Course, text, slides, notes, etc. Then, you will have to prepare the software and maybe learn how to operate it along with the recording software. Another thing you have to do is to prepare and record the lessons.You can start simple, and record the videos for your Lead Generator Course.
Heads Up! You have to backup everything you do and of all the information you gather and create. That means to save your materials on an external hard drive or, maybe your cloud storage services like Dropbox or Google drive. Use them as a backup storage for everything you are creating. You can lose everything in an instant. All the work you put, all the effort and time.
Remember you’re working with computers. Sometimes they malfunction.So save yourself from this headache and backup your work. Don’t tell me - I didn’t warn you.In fact, I’m going to put it here on the - To Do list.
This should be enough work for you to put in during the Week 1. Now that you have a good idea for what you have to do in week 1 - it’s time to think about spreading these action steps through the days of the week. You know your schedule and how much time you could put aside specifically for creating your online course.
Depending on your determination, focus and available time - you can do more than one task per day, it’s entirely up to you. Remember - determination and consistency will be your friends during these following weeks. So, keep these friends close and complete the necessary steps.
WEEK 2
In Week 2, you should be focused on editing your lessons and educational materials, then arranging them into a logical thought course. Once you will have your Lead Generator Course done - you could upload it to an online course distribution platform. Some of them offer you the possibility to host your online courses for free. Then, if you want - you can create your first Sales or Landing Page. We’re going to talk about this in more detail in some of the future lessons.
If you feel that the anxiety is coming and some of the steps I’m talking here are strange to you - it’s totally normal. Remember one thing, I’m going to take you by hand and show you each step and how to do it in this program. Don’t worry in case you don’t know something from this plan. I’m going to show you everything you need.
Now we are planning, later you will learn how to implement this plan and take action. Another thing to keep in mind is that - you can implement this plan faster or slower. It depends on your availability and determination. Someone could implement the steps form week 1 and 2 in just a couple of days.
For others, it could take longer - and that’s totally fine. You are not in race here. You are building your profitable online course and business - so take the necessary time and build them the right way. So, if you are new to the online course creation business that should be enough for week 2.
WEEK 3
Week 3 should be dedicated to creating your Fast Solution Course. It’s time to make some money from your courses. So, you should mostly repeat what you did during the creation of the Lead Generator Course: plan the course, gather the materials, and record the course itself.
Don’t forget about creating a backup of your work. You can offer your Fast Solution Course for a price and start testing your market.
WEEK 4
In Week 4 - you should be able to choose a paid Online Course Distribution Platform. This is a long term decision, but not a definite one of course. You can always change it if you like. We’ll talk about this in future lessons. Also, during this week you should edit and Finish your Fast Solution Course.
WEEK 5
In Week 5 - you should begin your Facebook marketing strategy by creating a Facebook Business Page, a Facebook business manager account, a Facebook Pixel, and maybe create your first ad. Also, I would highly recommend you to link your online course distribution platform with your Facebook Business Manager Account through your Facebook Pixel. I’m going to show you how to do it, step-by-step - in one of the Marketing Modules of this course.
WEEK 6
In Week 6 - In week 6 - you should choose an email service provider that you can use to communicate with your students and potential customers. There are some that offer you the possibility of creating a free account - and I’m going to show you what I use. During this week - you should create your first email, your first email form, and maybe your first email marketing automation.
I’m going to show you also different email marketing strategies that you can use for building your business like the use of a Lead Magnet. We’ll talk about all these steps in one of the marketing modules.
WEEK 7
If you decide to have a website for your business you should do it in Week 7. You will have to choose a domain, a web hosting service, and of course build the website itself. In this program I’m going to show you simple ways to build your own site for absolutely free.
We’ll talk about this in one of the Branding Modules of this program. After you finish creating your website - you should definitely install the Facebook pixel. Again, I’m going to show you how to do it in this program.
WEEK 8
If you manage to create all this, by Week 8 you may want to start researching and gathering materials for your Expert Course. Film the lessons, edit them and finish packaging the course.
WEEK 9
On Week 9 you may want to upload your Expert Course, promote it and start making some real money. During this week - you will also gather information on what people are interested in finding in your courses. Also, you want to focus on finding some advanced techniques that can be used in your Consultant course. Remember we talked about the three main categories you can put your courses in and price them accordingly.
WEEK 10
Starting with Week 10 you should gather your information and create a Consultant Type Course. You know the drill by now and how to do it. By week 10, you should be able to identify some advanced techniques you can include in your Consultant course and a way of consulting the students who are taking the course, in case they need it. Also during this week you should film the lessons.
WEEK 11
In Week 11 you should edit and finish the Consultant Course then upload it online.
WEEK 12
Week 12 should be a sort of general analysis, just a quick look back from where you started and what you achieved so far. That will be the time where you should point out your winnings in terms of knowledge, financial achievement - and also identifying the areas you should focus more on. Maybe you should try a new approach regarding marketing, or customer support.
Also during this week you should think about other strategies you could implement in your growing business. These could be related to your niche or maybe could be related to some of your new acquired skills.
You could think of creating a new package of services or products and other ways of helping your actual customers and maybe gather some new ones. The possibilities are endless, but it’s up to you to identify what feels right for you, your life and business.
Just another heads up!!!
...and this is important.
This 12-weeks plan should be regarded as a map you should follow. Now, we know we live different lives and have different amounts of time we can put aside for this new business. You may have entire days for creating days, but you may also have another day job you have to attend. So, you see, there are so many factors that can affect the duration of this 12-week plan.
Some people can shorten this plan to 5 or 6 weeks work, other to 4 months, 8 months, a year and that’s ok. Do this at your own pace - but do it. Remember, you are building a business here.
Sometimes it is hard, sometimes it is easy, but you have to advance in your journey, wherever you are in your life. Another point I want to quickly address here is that - it is entirely up to you with what you want to start from this planning.
If you are a total beginner to online business - I strongly advise you to follow the plan. Follow each lesson, take notes, take action, then edit this big 12 weeks plan, make it and edit it in your plan of action. On the other hand, if you have some knowledge about creating an online course - you may think that you already know some of the things presented in this course.
This is why - I strongly recommend you to watch all the lessons and take action. Maybe you have some things in place like a digital platform for online course distribution, that’s ok. But take your time - and watch the lessons, you may gain some new info and tactics you can use to your advantage. Of course, if you already have in place some things like this - you can choose what type of course you want to create.
And I want to say this one more time, don’t take this 12-weeks plan as a strict plan to follow. Use this as a guide and make your own plan. Maybe a smaller one. You can start to think about what could be your plan of action in the next 4 weeks, for example. Make some notes on what you’ll do in your week 1, 2, 3, 4. Then split the tasks for week 1 on different days and start doing the tasks.
Some of the unfinished things could be moved to the next week, or you can manage and finish the 2 weeks tasks in only a week. We work differently, at a different pace. Don’t over analyze things. Act one step at a time. One day at a time.
Your assignment now is to create your own action plan for the following weeks. I presented to you some of the main actions you will have to take in the near future, in order to create your online course and build your online business.
Start with week 1, then if you want - you may continue with week 2. If not, you can start with what you will do today, tomorrow and so on. I also want to address another thing here. In this video I presented you a plan that I still use and others used and are using with great success.
If you are feeling overwhelmed - it is totally fine. It means you are growing out of your comfort zone. An alternative to this action plan, specifically on creating different types of courses, could be - creating just one course, targeted to one single audience and niche.
You can start from the beginning with an Expert Course or Consultant course - and focus all your energy on creating that one course and not on multiple of them as I showed you. But, you will still need the branding and marketing part for having a successful online business.Therefore, no matter the path you are taking - use whatever fits you best.
The goal here is to create your profitable course and online business and there are multiple ways to do it. I’m showing what works for me and should work for you too.In this program I’m showing you the tools you need and how to use them. Your job is to pick which one is right for you and the beautiful part is that you can pick multiple tools. It’s entirely up to you.
Remember, each step you are taking, no matter how small - each of these steps - are the building blocks for building your online business.

There will be a new you by the end of this course, and by the end of the creation of your first online course. I hope you will change and transform for your own good.
